7 Lessons from Justin Timberlake

with 10 comments

Being forced into watching In Time, a sci-fi starring Justin Timberlake & Amanda Seyfried, I got more than what I paid to multiplex guys [Details later]. In Time is set in middle of 22nd century where humans are genetically modified to stop ageing beyond 25 years. From the 25th birthday onwards, everyone has one year to live, which slowly ticks away on a neon-green LED embedded in their left arm. Also, time is equivalent of currency – you can buy a cup of coffee for Four minutes and a night’s stay in a hotel suite for Three months. So more time you have, richer you are. But, if time on your arm runs out, you get a kick (different from the one in Inception) and you are ‘timed out’ forever.

Time is everything.

After Inception, it is the first sci-fi that has managed to give me some philosophical kicks. Movie is full of acid dripping painful truths. I share a few –

Lesson #1: Time is the real currency.

Lesson #2: If you waste time, time will waste you.

Lesson #3: Since we are not immortals, everyday is a gift for you. Treat and live it like it is the last day of your life.

Lesson #4: Everyone is after your time. After all it is what they all survive/feed on. You just need to love yourself and protect your loved ones from those who are out there trying to steal time.

Lesson #5: You can find allies and comrades in strangest of places. So be on the lookout.

Lesson #6: Most people live their lives without knowing what they want. Don’t be one of them.

Lesson #7: You should be ready to take the jump (risk). And as they say, ships are safest at harbors but that is not what they were built for.

After showering you all with life lessons from someone like Justin Timberlake 😉 , here is what I got as a bonus of watching the movie.

Watched the movie from a seat next to the gorgeous lady who drove a F1 carGul Panag!

Lucky Me 🙂

Holy teachings of Sri Sri Farhan ‘Rock On’ Akhtar Ji Maharaj

with 19 comments

Bhai bandhuon aur hamari pyaari mahilaon

[Ladies and gentlemen]

We are pleased to inform you all, that due to kripa [blessings] of great God, some people discovered the long lost book of Sri Sri Farhan Akhtar Ji Maharaj titled ‘Rock On!!!’ in the urban jungle, now popularly known as Mumbai.

The Holy Book of Rock On!!!

The Holy Book of Rock On!!!

And it was for the benefit of all, that it was decided to release his teaching on a medium, that is modern and on a growth trajectory simply unbelieveable – Blogs.

Reasons of choosing this particular blog are still unknown to small people like us. May be its the wish of the great God or may be this place is destined for this thing to happen. These are things that may never be answered, but we should not be concerned with things beyond our control..

So, without wasting any more time on worldly talks, lets get ourselves immersed in the holy teachings of one of the greatest reformers of our time, Sri Sri Farhan Akhtar Ji Maharaj.

All the couplets, triplets and every other type of ‘lets’ below, have been adopted from his holy book of ‘Rock On!!!’, from the chapter titled ‘Sindbad The Sailor’.

An effort has been made to give the literal meaning of the holy text [where possible, due to little knowledge we have in comparison to the God who wrote it], so that the unenlightened ones like you and me can also benefit from his great thoughts.

Kindly pay attention and please for heaven’s sake, SWITCH OFF YOUR CELLS!!

Sindbad The Sailor Ek Jahaaz Mein Jab Chala Mere Yaar Sunlo Sunlo

Doondh Raha Tha Ek Naye Duniya Ka Pata Mere Yaar Sunlo Sunlo

– Guruji wants to convey the message of inquisitiveness through this couplet. He here refers to a famous sailor named Sindbad, who took a ship into the sea to find new land. A land where nobody else had ever gone before. A land that was still unknown to everyone like us. Message he wants to convey here is that you need to be inquisitive enough to find new horizons. Stagnation is not, and shall never be a man’s fate. Its only becomes one, when the person stops searching for newer horizons and time passes by. We all need to keep moving on. Moving on, ahead of the past and living in present with our eyes on future.

Voyage of His Life - Sindbad goes on

Voyage of His Life - Sindbad goes on

O O.. Anjaane Raahon Mein Tha.. o o.., O O.. Lehron Ki Baahon Mein Tha.. o o..

Sab Ne Kaha Tha In Samandaron Mein Jaana Nahin

Mere Yaar Sunlo Sunlo

Khwaabon Ke Peeche Jaake Kuch Bhi Hai Paana Nahin

Mere Yaar Sunlo Sunlo

– Continuing the divine story of Sindbad, he tells that the path Sindbad took was never taken before. He was moving into the seas without any regard to his safety. He was moving into previously unexplored territory. There may be times when people will not provide support to you. Even those who are very close to you. They may not have confidence in your confidence. They may not be there for you. They will tell you to be practical and stop living in dreams. They will be the ones who are going to explain to you, that why is it useless to go after one’s dreams; they will tell you that why should you compromise in life and take the safer route. They will always be willing to tell you reasons for your dream’s failure.

O O.. Apni Hi Dhun Mein Raha.. o o.., O O.. Sunta tha Dil Ka Kahaan o o..

Us Ke The Jo Sapne, Wohin Us Ke The Apne, Aisa Tha Sindbad The Sailor Sailor

Us Ke The Jo Sapne, Wohin Us Ke The Apne, Aisa Tha Sindbad The Sailor Sailor

– But Sindbad was not concerned with all the misguidance he was getting. He used to listen to what his heart had to say. You should be one, who is ready to listen to everyone. But you should also be the one who shall do what he/she wants. Not what others want you to do. You should be your own cause. You should be your own purpose. The dreams you have, our one of the very few things in life, that are really your own. You are the real and the sole owner of your dreams. You are what your dreams are and not what others have dreamt for you.

Us Ka Jahaaz Ghira Tufano Mein, Mere Yaar Sunlo Sunlo

Phir Bhi Na Aayi Kami Us Ke Armaano Mein Mere Yaar Sunlo Sunlo

Woh Deewana Aisa Hi Tha O o.. O O.. Sapno Ka Humrahi Tha O o..

Us Ke The Jo Sapne Wohin Us Ke The Apne, Aisa Tha Sindbad The Sailor Sailor

Us Ke The Jo Sapne Wohin Us Ke The Apne, Aisa Tha Sindbad The Sailor Sailor

– Sindbad, alongwith his ship was caught in a really terrible sea storm. But this in no way could break his confidence of finding the new world. He was the one who had tremendous faith in his abilities. According to Farhan Ji, life is not always beautiful. Some phases are good and others are equally bad. There shall be times when every single thing in the universe will conspire agaisnt you. They will conspire that you don’t achieve what you want. But there is still something that is in your favour. Its your passion. Its your faith. The passion to fulfill your dream. The faith on your abilities. And there is no force in this universe that can stand in front of the combination of a person’s passion and faith. You should have the faith and passion to move with your dreams. Don’t ever let your dreams die. You are, because your dreams are. Your dreams are, because you are.

O O.. Kuch Paane Ki Chaah Mein.. O O.., O O.. Badta Rahan Raahon Mein O O..

Gehra Samundar Tha Oonchi Oonchi Lehren Mere Yaar Sunlo Sunlo

Kasthiyan Jinpe Mushkil Se Thehre Mere Yaar Sunlo Sunlo

O O Saahil Tak Aa Hi Gaya  O O.., Woh Manzil Ko Paa Hi Gaya O O..

Us Ke The Jo Sapne Wohin Us Ke The Apne, Aisa Tha Sindbad The Sailor Sailor

Us Ke The Jo Sapne Wohin Us Ke The Apne, Aisa Tha Sindbad The Sailor Sailor

– But Sindbad was unperturbed. He was not concerned with what others thought about him. He was concerned about what he thought about himself. He wanted something. And for that, he kept moving. A number of difficulties came in way of his dreams. He was in a sea that was as deep as our inner self and he was being really tested by some very high waves, on which it was difficult for even the larger ships to stay afloat. But he kept moving. He kept moving and finally got to his destination. He realised his dream. He got to his goal. Goals are not that are easy to achieve. Dreams are easy to have but really, really very difficult to realize. You should never leave your journey towards your goal halfway. You should try going the entire way, no matter what the odds are against you. Yes, you will face difficulties. Yes, you will find it easier to quit. Yes, you will be prompted by others to give up. But that’s not the way it should be. We were not born to lose. We were born to try. Try and then keep trying till we win. We have to go all the way in trying. Because what you are trying, is for your dreams. Not anyone else’s, but your dreams. And can you take your dreams lightly? Should you take your dreams lightly? You know the answer very well… 🙂

Tum Ho To Gaata Hai Dil, Tum Nahin To Geet Kahan..

Tum Ho To Hai Sab Haasil, Tum Nahin To Kya Hai Yahan..

Tum Ho To Hai Sapno Ke Jaisa Haseen Ek Sama…

Jo Tum Ho To Yeh Lagta Hai Ke Mil Gayi.. Har Khushi

Jo Tum Na Ho Yeh Lagta Hai Ke Har Khushi.. Mein Hai Kami

Tumko Hai Maangti Yeh Zindagi….

Oooooooooo..Ooooooo….Ooooooo.

Till now Shri Farhan Akhtar Ji Maharaj kept enlightening us about the passionate approach of achieveing our goals, staying focussed on what we believe in, In the last sep’tet’ (just like a couplet)he takes up the topic of Love – The most sacred of all human feelings. The feeling that makes us humans. The feeling that is the upward glance. A glance to the powers above. A feeling that is so sacred that it can never be understood unless you feel it yourself.

He says that, when you are with someone you love, someone you have full faith on, someone you can totally believe in, then its one of the most unexplainable feeling. You feel that all powers are ‘with’ you. Nothing can go wrong. Just nothing.

Its only the loved ones that our life wants. Its only love that our life wants; nothing more, nothing less, nothing else.

So here we are. At this juncture of our lives, in a place like this, having just undergone a shower of blessings of Sri Farhan Akhtar Ji Maharaj. We should consider oursleves lucky that such a rare book (ROCK ON!!! )was discovered. It has such valuable life lessons that it should be read by each and every human.

We might(not will – because there are certain things beyond our control, and finding another great chapter like this shall be a similar feat )be back with knowledge from more chapters of the book.

Till then stay focused, stay passionate and keep ROCKing ON!!!

A R Rehman says JAI HO to Heath Ledger at the Oscars!!

with 2 comments

So here we are. We have finally landed on the planet Oscar. “Mozart Of Madras”, oops… Mr. A. R. Rehman has done something which atleast Aamir Khan will be proud of 😉 (No harm meant to Aamir though). After costume designer Bhanu Athaiya and director Satyajit Ray, our Mozart is the 3rd Indian to have won this coveted trophy.

But in all the hype of Indians storming the Oscar party, aren’t we forgetting something?

Just try to remember the person who played a really masterpiece of a villainious role. Yes, you are getting closer to the name.

Need a bit more help?

He died of drug overdose.

Now you got it.

I am talking about (Sir) Heath Ledger. Why “sir”?? Oh come on…he was just awesome. Who can forget his lip smacking dialogues in The Dark Knight?

heath-ledger

Naah…this should be a better picture for all of us to relate…

hl1

As I always expected (after watching the movie), Joker has finally become the “Ace of All Cards”. Heath Ledger, playing the Joker was just awesome. He was so creepy, perfect and dark. Boy, “Why so serious?” has become a cult statement in the real sense.

And was he not a real mix of GOOD & EVIL in the movie??

good

I bet he was.

Below is a short take from my earlier post recommending an Oscar for him –

…Now lets talk about the awards which need to be bestowed upon the movie and its characters. I recommend an Oscar for Mr. Heath Ledger. Or make it two. One for the best performance of the year and another, a special one for giving one of the greatest performances in a negative role…

…But even if Late Heath Ledger does not get it, it would not make a difference as this was the first time that the Joker had become the Ace of the pack of cards…

So I got my call right this time. Shouldn’t I be in the Oscar jury the next time? I think so J

And I swear, if I have compare my happiness in the 2 cases, I would say that I am much more happy for Heath Ledger getting the Oscar than Rehman getting 2 or 3.

But still, Rehman is a magician.

So thanks Mr. Rehman, for bringing something really cool for us. And Mr Heath…may your soul rest in peace and ‘Jai Ho’ for you

Jai Ho!

Jai Ho!!

Best Songs of Bollywood in 2008

with 8 comments

I know we are nearing the end of the first month of the year and my post is a bit late to start with. But still I wanted to do a list of sort for the best songs, or rather the songs which I liked in the last year.

So, here I present the list of songs that my ears fell for. Also, you must acknowledge the fact that this is a personal list and is not in anyway guided by any other person except me. Everyone has an opinion…isn’t it? 😉

Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye – Ghajini

Now I really never expected that such a song could be made. Really such heart filling emotions…Rehman is the ‘real’ magician.

Tu Muskura Jahaan Bhi Hai – Yuvraaj

The emotions are so pure in the song. And that is what makes it a winner.

Tashan Mein – Tashan

The most rocking song of the year. No matter how many people have a negative bias for Tashan. I just love it.

200px-ghajini_hindiyuvraaj20yuvvraaj20movie1tashan11

Jashn – e – Bahara – Jodha Akbar

A classical beauty. Its so soothing to here this song when you are all by yourself.

Guzarish – Ghajini

Kabhi Kabhi Aditi – Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na

I have been an old fan of this song. Read this

Crudeness of the song wins it for me….and SINGHS now have their very on anthem.

Socha Hai – Rock On

Khuda Jaane – Bachnaa Ae Hasino

Aahista Aahista – Bachna Ae Hasino

Jaane Kyun – Dostana

😉 (Its all about wickedness honey!)

Jannat Jahan – Jannat

A damn ambitious song. Was absolutely spot on with the emotions that the song was supposed to portray.

Tere Bina –Superstar

Get On The Floor – Yuuvraaj

Thats about it all. I have really no issues if anyone has any problems with my list.

Humming Kabhi Kabhi Aditi…

with 4 comments

Some songs are like…they just crawl into your mind when you are just hanging around  and not paying much attention to anything. You start humming it for no rhyme or reason. And then the deadly phase begins. You just cant get the song out of your mind for the next few days. It seems like your brain has transformed into a bowl of glue and the song has fell into it.

The song ‘ Kabhi kabhi Aditi’ from JTYJN is one such song. But I am facing a severe problem. Even after having heard the song such a long time back, I just cant get this song out of my sticky head!!!!!

I just wish that I knew some Aditi for whom I could sing the song…but unfortunately I don’t …

Having no idea whatsoever about the departure schedule of this song from the topmost part of my body, I can just thank Rashid for giving such a lovely tune.

Just check out the lyrics…they are so cute and obvious….

Lyrics :

Kabhi Kabhi Aditi Zindagi Me Yun Hi Koi Apna Lagta Hai
Kabhi Kabhi Aditi Woh Bichad Jaaye To Ek Sapna Lagta Hai

Aise Me Koi Kaise Apne Aansuon Ko Behnay Se Roke
Aur Kaise Koi Soch de Everything’S Gonna Be Okay

Kabhi Kabhi To Lage Zindagi Me Rahi Na Khushi Aur Na Maza
Kabhi Kabhi To Lage Har Din Mushkil Aur Har Pal Ek Saza

Aise Me Koi Kaise Muskuraaye, Kaise Has De Khush Hoke
Aur Kaise Koi Soch de Everything’S  Gonna Be Okay

Soch Zara Jan-E-Jaan Tujh Ko Hum Kitna Chahte Hain
Rote Hain Hum Bhi Agar Tere Aankhon Me Aansun Aate Hain

Gaana To Aata Nahi Hai Magar Phir Bhi Hum Gaate Hain
Hey Aditi Maan Kabhi-Kabhi Saare Jahan Me Andhera Hota Hai
Lekin Raat Ke Baad Hi To Savera Hota Hai

Kabhi Kabhi Aditi Zindagi Me Yun Hi Koi Apna Lagta Hai
Kabhi Kabhi Aditi Woh Bichar Jaye To Ek Sapna Lagta Hai

Hey Aditi Has De Has De Has De Has De Has De Has De Tu Zara
Nahi To Bas Thoda Thoda Thoda Thoda Thoda Thoda Muskura

Tu Khush Hai To Lage Kay Jahan Main Chaiyi Hai Khushi
Sooraj Nikle Baadalon Se Aur Bantein Zindagi
Sun To Zara Madhosh Hawa Tujhse Kehne Lagi

Ki Aditi Woh Jo Bichadte Hain Ik Na Ik Din Phir Mil Jate
Aditi Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na Phool Phir Khil Jate Hain

Kabhi Kabhi Aditi Zindagi Me Yun Hi Koi Apna Lagta Hai
Kabhi Kabhi Aditi Who Bichad Jaye To Ek Sapna Lagta Hai

Hey Aditi Has De Has De Has De Has De Has De Has De Tu Zara
Nahi To Bas Thoda Thoda Thoda Thoda Thoda Thoda Muskura

Hey Aditi Has De Has De Has De Has De Has De Has De Tu Zara
Nahi To Bas Thoda Thoda Thoda Thoda Thoda Thoda Muskura

Hey Aditi Has De Has De Has De Has De Has De Has De Tu Zara
Nahi To Bas Thoda Thoda Thoda Thoda Thoda Thoda Muskura

Hey Aditi Has De Has De Has De Has De Has De Has De Tu Zara
Nahi To Bas Thoda Thoda Thoda Thoda Thoda Thoda Muskura

Isnt it…??

Heath Ledger in Dark Knight : An ace of a Joker

with 2 comments

Hancock was what I had thought would be a great movie. The reason being, my love for one man ‘Will Smith’ shows. But as Joker’s destiny wanted, I ended up watching the Dark Knight. And I swear, never has a superhero movie, ever before, left an impact like this.
Rarely does a movie with this much hype ever live upto it, but this film just blew past all sorts of benchmarks set up by previous movies of the same genre.
Heath Ledger, playing the Joker was just awesome. He was so creepy, perfect and dark with “Why so serious?” poised to be a cult catchline. How could have anyone planned so well? It was simply unbelievable. Man on a mission, Joker literally wanted to carve a smile on other’s faces!
Only shortcoming of the movie was that they could have chosen a much better looking girl for the lead. But nevertheless, it would have taken the ‘darklight’ of the joker. So cheers to this non-beautiful decision by the director Christopher Nolan.
Scenes of batman jumping of high rises were just jaw dropping. Could not have asked for a better special effects and camerawork. Being a car enthusiast, batmobile and then the bat’s bike did leave me gasping for breath.
Now lets talk about the awards which need to be bestowed upon the movie and its characters. I recommend an Oscar for Mr. Heath Ledger. Or make it two. One for the best performance of the year and another, a special one for giving one of the greatest performances in a negative role. Camerawork should also be given a nomination, to say the least. A best movie will do real good to the movie and us. And yes, that of best director ought to go to Christopher Nolan. I read it in a newspaper column, where a movie buff was saying that if the Joker does not get the Oscar this time, it would be best to boycott the Oscars! I totally agree the gentleman’s view.
But even if Late Heath Ledger does not get it, it would not make a difference as this was the first time that the Joker had become the Ace of the pack of cards.
