Holy teachings of Sri Sri Farhan ‘Rock On’ Akhtar Ji Maharaj

with 19 comments

Bhai bandhuon aur hamari pyaari mahilaon

[Ladies and gentlemen]

We are pleased to inform you all, that due to kripa [blessings] of great God, some people discovered the long lost book of Sri Sri Farhan Akhtar Ji Maharaj titled ‘Rock On!!!’ in the urban jungle, now popularly known as Mumbai.

The Holy Book of Rock On!!!

The Holy Book of Rock On!!!

And it was for the benefit of all, that it was decided to release his teaching on a medium, that is modern and on a growth trajectory simply unbelieveable – Blogs.

Reasons of choosing this particular blog are still unknown to small people like us. May be its the wish of the great God or may be this place is destined for this thing to happen. These are things that may never be answered, but we should not be concerned with things beyond our control..

So, without wasting any more time on worldly talks, lets get ourselves immersed in the holy teachings of one of the greatest reformers of our time, Sri Sri Farhan Akhtar Ji Maharaj.

All the couplets, triplets and every other type of ‘lets’ below, have been adopted from his holy book of ‘Rock On!!!’, from the chapter titled ‘Sindbad The Sailor’.

An effort has been made to give the literal meaning of the holy text [where possible, due to little knowledge we have in comparison to the God who wrote it], so that the unenlightened ones like you and me can also benefit from his great thoughts.

Kindly pay attention and please for heaven’s sake, SWITCH OFF YOUR CELLS!!

Sindbad The Sailor Ek Jahaaz Mein Jab Chala Mere Yaar Sunlo Sunlo

Doondh Raha Tha Ek Naye Duniya Ka Pata Mere Yaar Sunlo Sunlo

- Guruji wants to convey the message of inquisitiveness through this couplet. He here refers to a famous sailor named Sindbad, who took a ship into the sea to find new land. A land where nobody else had ever gone before. A land that was still unknown to everyone like us. Message he wants to convey here is that you need to be inquisitive enough to find new horizons. Stagnation is not, and shall never be a man’s fate. Its only becomes one, when the person stops searching for newer horizons and time passes by. We all need to keep moving on. Moving on, ahead of the past and living in present with our eyes on future.

Voyage of His Life - Sindbad goes on

Voyage of His Life - Sindbad goes on

O O.. Anjaane Raahon Mein Tha.. o o.., O O.. Lehron Ki Baahon Mein Tha.. o o..

Sab Ne Kaha Tha In Samandaron Mein Jaana Nahin

Mere Yaar Sunlo Sunlo

Khwaabon Ke Peeche Jaake Kuch Bhi Hai Paana Nahin

Mere Yaar Sunlo Sunlo

- Continuing the divine story of Sindbad, he tells that the path Sindbad took was never taken before. He was moving into the seas without any regard to his safety. He was moving into previously unexplored territory. There may be times when people will not provide support to you. Even those who are very close to you. They may not have confidence in your confidence. They may not be there for you. They will tell you to be practical and stop living in dreams. They will be the ones who are going to explain to you, that why is it useless to go after one’s dreams; they will tell you that why should you compromise in life and take the safer route. They will always be willing to tell you reasons for your dream’s failure.

O O.. Apni Hi Dhun Mein Raha.. o o.., O O.. Sunta tha Dil Ka Kahaan o o..

Us Ke The Jo Sapne, Wohin Us Ke The Apne, Aisa Tha Sindbad The Sailor Sailor

Us Ke The Jo Sapne, Wohin Us Ke The Apne, Aisa Tha Sindbad The Sailor Sailor

- But Sindbad was not concerned with all the misguidance he was getting. He used to listen to what his heart had to say. You should be one, who is ready to listen to everyone. But you should also be the one who shall do what he/she wants. Not what others want you to do. You should be your own cause. You should be your own purpose. The dreams you have, our one of the very few things in life, that are really your own. You are the real and the sole owner of your dreams. You are what your dreams are and not what others have dreamt for you.

Us Ka Jahaaz Ghira Tufano Mein, Mere Yaar Sunlo Sunlo

Phir Bhi Na Aayi Kami Us Ke Armaano Mein Mere Yaar Sunlo Sunlo

Woh Deewana Aisa Hi Tha O o.. O O.. Sapno Ka Humrahi Tha O o..

Us Ke The Jo Sapne Wohin Us Ke The Apne, Aisa Tha Sindbad The Sailor Sailor

Us Ke The Jo Sapne Wohin Us Ke The Apne, Aisa Tha Sindbad The Sailor Sailor

- Sindbad, alongwith his ship was caught in a really terrible sea storm. But this in no way could break his confidence of finding the new world. He was the one who had tremendous faith in his abilities. According to Farhan Ji, life is not always beautiful. Some phases are good and others are equally bad. There shall be times when every single thing in the universe will conspire agaisnt you. They will conspire that you don’t achieve what you want. But there is still something that is in your favour. Its your passion. Its your faith. The passion to fulfill your dream. The faith on your abilities. And there is no force in this universe that can stand in front of the combination of a person’s passion and faith. You should have the faith and passion to move with your dreams. Don’t ever let your dreams die. You are, because your dreams are. Your dreams are, because you are.

O O.. Kuch Paane Ki Chaah Mein.. O O.., O O.. Badta Rahan Raahon Mein O O..

Gehra Samundar Tha Oonchi Oonchi Lehren Mere Yaar Sunlo Sunlo

Kasthiyan Jinpe Mushkil Se Thehre Mere Yaar Sunlo Sunlo

O O Saahil Tak Aa Hi Gaya  O O.., Woh Manzil Ko Paa Hi Gaya O O..

Us Ke The Jo Sapne Wohin Us Ke The Apne, Aisa Tha Sindbad The Sailor Sailor

Us Ke The Jo Sapne Wohin Us Ke The Apne, Aisa Tha Sindbad The Sailor Sailor

- But Sindbad was unperturbed. He was not concerned with what others thought about him. He was concerned about what he thought about himself. He wanted something. And for that, he kept moving. A number of difficulties came in way of his dreams. He was in a sea that was as deep as our inner self and he was being really tested by some very high waves, on which it was difficult for even the larger ships to stay afloat. But he kept moving. He kept moving and finally got to his destination. He realised his dream. He got to his goal. Goals are not that are easy to achieve. Dreams are easy to have but really, really very difficult to realize. You should never leave your journey towards your goal halfway. You should try going the entire way, no matter what the odds are against you. Yes, you will face difficulties. Yes, you will find it easier to quit. Yes, you will be prompted by others to give up. But that’s not the way it should be. We were not born to lose. We were born to try. Try and then keep trying till we win. We have to go all the way in trying. Because what you are trying, is for your dreams. Not anyone else’s, but your dreams. And can you take your dreams lightly? Should you take your dreams lightly? You know the answer very well… :-)

Tum Ho To Gaata Hai Dil, Tum Nahin To Geet Kahan..

Tum Ho To Hai Sab Haasil, Tum Nahin To Kya Hai Yahan..

Tum Ho To Hai Sapno Ke Jaisa Haseen Ek Sama…

Jo Tum Ho To Yeh Lagta Hai Ke Mil Gayi.. Har Khushi

Jo Tum Na Ho Yeh Lagta Hai Ke Har Khushi.. Mein Hai Kami

Tumko Hai Maangti Yeh Zindagi….

Oooooooooo..Ooooooo….Ooooooo.

Till now Shri Farhan Akhtar Ji Maharaj kept enlightening us about the passionate approach of achieveing our goals, staying focussed on what we believe in, In the last sep’tet’ (just like a couplet)he takes up the topic of Love – The most sacred of all human feelings. The feeling that makes us humans. The feeling that is the upward glance. A glance to the powers above. A feeling that is so sacred that it can never be understood unless you feel it yourself.

He says that, when you are with someone you love, someone you have full faith on, someone you can totally believe in, then its one of the most unexplainable feeling. You feel that all powers are ‘with’ you. Nothing can go wrong. Just nothing.

Its only the loved ones that our life wants. Its only love that our life wants; nothing more, nothing less, nothing else.

heart1

So here we are. At this juncture of our lives, in a place like this, having just undergone a shower of blessings of Sri Farhan Akhtar Ji Maharaj. We should consider oursleves lucky that such a rare book (ROCK ON!!! )was discovered. It has such valuable life lessons that it should be read by each and every human.

We might(not will – because there are certain things beyond our control, and finding another great chapter like this shall be a similar feat )be back with knowledge from more chapters of the book.

Till then stay focused, stay passionate and keep ROCKing ON!!!

My dream lunch with Warren Buffet – The Greatest Investor Ever

with 2 comments

Let me confess it first. Warren Buffet is the equivalent of God for me. So any biases & excessive use of superlatives that might have crept in this post should be acknowledged & respected by you.  :-)

$600,000 is what I paid for a lunch with Warren Buffet. I know it is too much for anything, leave alone a lunch. I could even have bought a Class A or B share and would have been granted an access to the now ‘a pilgrimage of sorts’ Berkshire Hathaway Annual Meetings. I would also have received the letter from Berkshire Hathaway as well as some of the cool See’s Candies… ;-)

clip_image008[1]

But this is the price I was always ready to pay to meet my God. And almost an year after having won the bid for the privilege of dining out with the world’s richest man and my idol, Warren Buffet, here I was at New York’s famous steakhouse, Smith & Wollensky, for my big moment & pilgrimage.

I was out of breath when I came out of the taxi. I was already late. That too at such an occasion!! I was really feeling very stupid at this when I saw Warren, dressed in a dark suit and yellow tie, seemingly in no hurry and ‘waiting for me’ outside S&W. I bet I could see a halo around his head! Really. But he had no airs of being larger than life figure. But shit!!! was this a dream? I could see that Warren was not alone. He was accompanied by none other than Charlie Munger and Ajit Jain. Now it is one thing to bid and win a lunch with god (read Warren Buffet), but getting to have lunch with 3 great men @ a price of one, is one great investment. :-) But just then the dream ended, and Charlie and Ajit left me with my God alone. They had some personal priorities greater than me… ;-) The Oracle of Omaha was more than happy to let me get as many pictures clicked with him as I wanted.

After the pictures were done, we sat down for our meal. The menus arrived and Warren ordered for a medium New York T-bone steak with hash browns and a Coke (Berkshire Hathaway owns shares in Coca-Cola Co.). Out of awe and respect, even I ordered the same, completely forgetting that I was a vegetarian!! I realized it after a while and called the waiter back, and modified my orders. Warren was all smiles and I knew that nothing was hidden from my God. :-)

It didn’t strike me when we were chatting, but when I look back now I realize that over the 4 hours , we discussed millions of different topics, ranging from Warren’s value system as an investor to his friend and Berkshire Vice Chairman Charlie Munger to the importance of picking the right life partner. But really the thing that made the biggest impression on me had nothing to do with Warren’s investment philosophy. Rather, what was moving was his love for his former wife, Susan. “I never did anything for Suzie, but she did everything for me; I wouldn’t have been as successful without her.” Even great men like him are not perfect when it comes to relationships.

It was time for dessert (ice cream in shot glasses) and for our lunch to end.

And with that my ‘Cursed’ alarm clock buzzed me out off the bed. Shit!!! I never realized that this was a dream. :-( And I swear that I will always be ready to swap my realities with this dream.)

It has been around 3 years that I have been learning vicariously from Warren. And I, not a very ‘awesome’ investor, have turned into a vastly better human being. Now this is what should be called a dream lunch…isn’t it??  ;-)

Lewis Hamilton’s SECRET LETTER to Barack Obama!!

with 6 comments

Hello Mr. Obama,

Congratulations on your victory Mr. Obama. Though I was really sad for Sarah Palin (read eye candy!!) loosing out on Vice Prez, I am happy that you have become the most powerful person of the planet. Americans now atleast have someone to show off their dislike for racism. But hey, you know me..isn’t it??

I am Lewis. Lewis Hamilton.

An F1 driver!! A world champion!! Shit…how stupid of me. You Americans don’t know that F1 stands for Formula 1…(I’ll remember it the next time). And just to prompt you to further read my letter, have a look at the picture below….I even resemble you!! OMG !!

Obama-Lewis-Barack-Hamliton

But unlike you, I had to work really hard for my world championship. That Massa guy, almost had it this time. Had it not been for Toyota’s Timo Glock, I would have again lost it by 1 point. God bless Timo. And the funny part is, that last year, I lost the world championship by 1 point (I know, its really sad) and this year, I won it by 1 point. But I do feel bad for Massa. The guy must be really frustrated. This time last year Felipe Massa was playing the supporting role as Ferrari team mate Kimi Raikkonen took the 2007 drivers’ championship. On Sunday at Interlagos the roles were reversed, Massa almost snatched it from me. I swear, Massa is no longer the Ferrari number 2. He is now as strong as Kimi.

And just read what Massa had to say after the race –

“It was an exciting day. We did everything to perfection and we almost managed to pull it off. Then, as I crossed the line, race engineer Rob Smedley told me that Hamilton had finished fifth and therefore he took the title by one point. Sport is like this and one has to accept that. Congratulations to Lewis: whoever gets the most points deserves the title.”

Now that’s a true gentleman. Just like us…the Britishers. Oops…Massa is a Brazilian (American). ;-)

But your job is not as adrenaline pumping as mine. You have 4 years to run your country. I just have some hours to run a good race. Talking of adrenaline, how can I forget Fernando Alonso? The Spanish Bull overflowing with adrenaline. I am 100% sure that this guy is going to win the next year’s championship and have me kneeling down in front of him. But lets be a bit optimistic and cross the bridge when it comes.

So what about Palin? Can’t you persuade or force her to join you as a democrat? I swear you will have a lot of glamour in your armory. And we all know the power of glamour. :-) And please, do something about the economic mess that your predecessor George Bush has created. I am no expert in economy but theses guys from BBC just keep on saying that world is in a recession, USA’s economy has come to an end and ‘Queen knows what not’.

What else…?? I think I will now spend some more time with my new girlfriend and my autobiography. I have to complete it soon or I’ll become too old.

Till then, cheers to ‘our colored victory.’

Yours

Lewis

Sensex at 8500, Nifty at 2500 – What does Shankar Sharma (The Bear) has to say – An Interview

with 2 comments

Indian stock market investors will always remember 24th October, 2008 as the blackest Friday the Indian stock market as seen till date. The Sensex plunged 11% while the Nifty ended down by 12.20%.

The gains of the 4-year bull-run have been wiped out in just eight months!

So, what does the biggest bear of them all -  Shankar Sharma would have to say about this carnage?

___________

Q : Good evening sir, did you see what just happened in the stock markets today?

A : Why? Did it rise 100 points?

Q : Oh come on sir, you must be joking!! Sensex and Nifty fell more than 10% today itself. Sensex is trading near 8500 and Nifty near 2500!!

A : See? I have been telling you all for the last 9 months that the party is over. The days of easy money are over dude. India has run way ahead of itself. And investors can’t expect a compounded annual growth rate of 30-35% each year.

Q : But this day is different from other falls. The blue chips like RIL and ONGC cracked today. That too over 15% !!

A : Yeah…I agree with you on this. Your Finance Minister P Chidambaram also tried to intervene and calm frayed nerves but that did not help the markets. And you know what? He was saying that they were ready to adopt conventional and unconventional tools!! Tools?? These are times to go short. Nothing else. Pure shorting.

Q : So you didn’t even buy a single share today? Some of the blue chips were really attractive today.

A : No!! Why on earth would I do anything like that ?

Q : Sorry. Stupid of me. Sir, where do you see Sensex on 31st December 2008 ?

A : 7000

Q : And sir 3 years from now ?

A : 3000

Q : In the year 2015 ?

A : Base Value

Q : What sir?

A : I mean 100. Sensex at 100.

Q : You must be joking sir. Sensex at 100?? No way.. But at least at 7000, will you buy anything in the Indian market?

A : Well, first I will think of covering my shorts. Buying….? no hurry yet…may be by 2015. Lets see.

Q : Sir what are your views on real estate stocks? The Realty Index fell 25% today. And Unitech plunged 52% and DLF fell close to 24%. Puravankara Projects crashed 45% and Parsvnath was down 21%. There must be a lot of value in them now?

A : Value? In real estate stocks? No way. You can better invest your money in buying bricks. Even if Unitech falls to its 2003 prices of Rs. 1.50/-, I will short it. But DLF around 25 will be a good buy.

Q : Unitech @ 1.50 , DLF @ 25 !! But DLF’s IPO came in at about 500? Even I bought it. It was just too good to miss.

A : Then DLF guys made you a fool 25 times over. [Laughs]

Q : Which is the best buy you think currently?

A : Best buy is “short sell”.

Q : Sir a few personal questions. What is your favourite color ?

A : Red

Q : hmmm…oh I should have guessed it….Why do you have a picture of BEAR in your living room?

A : Oh that? He is Mr. Sharma, my father. And did you see our family picture?

Shankar's Bear Family

Q : What?? ….Ohhkk sir, it was a pleasure talking to you and thanks for this bearish interview.

A : My [short] pleasure.

Disclaimer: Unfortunately, this is not a real interview. ;-)

What should a blogger do when he/she has nothing else to do?

leave a comment »

Now this might have happened to you. Atleast it does happen to me and that too very frequently. ;-) So what should, or rather what can a blogger do when he is not posting stuff on his blog?

Scratching HeadScratch your head.
Believe me, this sometimes works wonders. It seems that when you scratch your head, the brain juices start flowing and bingo! you have an idea to better spend your time. And it feels pretty good too. ;-) And if you get bored of scratching your own head, try scratching the nearest guy’s head.

Watch TV and think about your blog being declared the ‘Best National Blog’.
Amen.

Call a random telephone number and tell the unknown person about the advantages of reading your blog.
OMG!!

Try explaining to your dog about your blog.
And if your dog seems to be getting drowsy, just think about your readers… ;-)

Post a comment on other’s blog that their blog is showing PORN in header images
Isn’t it interesting and wicked??

Go and sleep.
Nobody is going to die if you don’t write.

Let your blog go to hell (for a while).
Even you won’t die if you don’t write.

Dev the Devil Click to know more about the devil.

DISCLAIMER: Hey, did you take me seriously?? A lot of these suggestions are really dumb, so don’t take them seriously!!
